The WaiBOP Football women’s team heads north this long weekend to take on Auckland Football and Head Coach, Juan Propato, is looking for a positive response from his side after giving up a three goal lead last Sunday.
“I was really happy with our first 25 minutes against Capital because we created many chances, dominated the game and scored three goals,” said Propato. “After Capital scored their 1st goal we gave them too much space and time on the ball. Our second half performance was good but we gave our chances away and they scored the last goal in a quick counter attack with only nine minutes left.”
The focus for the match against Auckland is on reducing mistakes and being more clinical.
“This year every team in the ASB Women’s League is very competitive and we won’t have any easy games,” explained Propato. “I know [Auckland coach] Kristy Hill quite well and I guess she is not happy with their draw against Football South last weekend. Auckland will try to win the game on Sunday to stay in the play-off hunt. For us it is the most important game of the season so far because a win will keep us in the top three, but a draw or loss will give the other teams a chance to overtake us.
“I believe in this team and we will do everything possible to win this Sunday.”
