WaiBOP was one of three teams which maintained perfect starts to the ASB Women’s League on Sunday. Defending champions Mainland Pride and Auckland Football were the other two sides to claim second round wins.
WaiBOP made it two-from-two with a 4-0 away result over Capital Football, with three goals coming in the second period as the visitors kicked clear at Memorial Park in Petone.
WaiBOP goalkeeper Amanda Wilshier made an important save in the 37th minute to deny the home team. Kylie Jens then made the most of Wilshier’s good work by opening the scoring for WaiBOP a minute before the break.
A 57th minute Capital own goal doubled the WaiBOP lead and when Football Ferns striker Helen Collins added two goals in the final 25 minutes there was no way back for the home side.
WaiBOP’s next game is against Auckland at St Peter’s School in Cambridge on Sunday, 26 October. Kick-off is at 1pm.
