WaiBOP Football has taken sole possession of third spot in the ASB Women’s League with a 4-1 victory over Football South at Tahuna Park in Dunedin on Sunday.
Tessa Leong opened the scoring in the ninth minute to set the team on their way and further first half goals from Tayla Christensen (pictured) and Paige Satchell had Juan Bautista Propato’s side firmly in control at the break.
New Zealand U-17 and U-20 international Satchell added her second goal of the game in the second half while a WaiBOP own goal in the final ten minutes pulled one back for Football South.
The result kept WaiBOP in the top three ahead of the business end of the season. Our final three matches are against the other sides currently in the top four, including this Sunday’s encounter against defending champions, Mainland Pride.
