The WaiBOP Football women’s team heads to the deep south this weekend and Head Coach, Juan Propato, is looking for nothing less than a positive result.
“We were really happy with the performance of the team against Auckland last weekend even though we couldn’t manage to squeeze out a win,” he said during the week. “We are improving as a team and everyone is understanding their roles when have possession of the ball, when the opposition has the ball and in transition, which is good.
“Now we have to look for results. One of the things I want to focus on this week is combination play and putting our chances away. We just have to be more clinical,” he explained. “We have trained really hard during the week and we will be ready to bring three points home from Dunedin.”
Propato is, of course, cautious in making that statement. “Football South has improved a lot from last year and we know that we will need to play well down there on Sunday to come back to with a victory.
“It’s a crucial game for us, however, because we want to make the play-offs. To do so we can’t afford to drop any points in Dunedin as Mainland and Northern are already four points ahead of us. A win for us will keep the pressure on the top two.”
