Our youth team has won their final away match of the season, over Manawatu United, with another gutsy effort in difficult conditions down in Palmerston North.
Two goals inside the last 20 minutes got the job done for WaiBOP after a goalless first half. Bailey Webster struck from the penalty spot with eighteen minutes remaining then substitute, Jacob Mechell, grabbed what would turn out to be the winner five minutes later.
Manawatu, who failed to make the best use of the breeze during the second half, scored a consolation goal late in stoppage time.
This was our sixth win of the season but it sees us remain in sixth, equal on 19 points with three other teams in the tightest of ASB Youth League standings.
Team Wellington, courtesy of a last minute winner over Canterbury United, wrapped up the title.
