The Bay SportsMed WaiBOP United Youth Team has started off their season in the new look ASB Youth League with an impressive away win over Manawatu United.
WaiBOP started off as dominant as ever, with a strong contingent of players from last season returning to the franchise for the new campaign. Goals from Dylan Bull and Reid Drake saw WaiBOP go 2-0 up at the break.
In the second half WaiBOP continued to dominate, creating chances through patient play. WaiBOP increased their lead, once again through Drake, in what can only be described as something out of a Barcelona play book, when they completed over 15 passes before finding the net.
Manawatu, looking to stage a comeback, managed to pull one back with some tidy play, however WaiBOP’s Lebon Bulamba quickly snuffed out any hopes of a comeback with a simple tap in through some great work down the flank.
WaiBOP play their next game at home (St Peters Cambridge) against Auckland City Youth on Sunday October 12. Kick-off 3.30pm.
WaiBOP United squad: 1-James Towers, 2-Liam Williams, 4-Mat Wheeler (8-Liam Hayes 46m), 7-Tom Probert, 15-Nathan Kinney (6-Cade Fleming 76m), 16-Scott Hilliar, 17-Reid Drake (C), 18-Jarred Young, 19-Wade Malony (12-Jono Viviani 67m), 9-Dylan Bull (11-Lebon Bulamba 62m), 10-Connor Probert (14-Matt Nixon 73m).
