Scott Hilliar, Liam Higgins and Andy McNeil spent an hour at Matamata Swifts AFC this afternoon, signing autographs, having their photos taken and playing football with some youngsters from this small Waikato town.
For Hilliar it was a homecoming, of sorts, as Matamata is where he began playing and where he spent much of his time as a junior and youth footballer.
McNeil said he enjoyed his visit to Matamata. “It’s important we get out and about around the region,” he explained. “Matamata looks like a great little town and they’ve definitely got some keen footballers here!”
Congratulations to young Harry Scott who won a signed football.
