The WaiBOP Football women’s team is out of play-off contention but, head coach, Juan Propato, is hopeful of a strong showing from his team to finish their ASB Women’s League campaign.
“Obviously last Sunday’s result put paid to our play-off ambitions, but we’ve showen enough in patches during our last two games to know we’re a real threat to the top teams,” said Propato. “It’s just about being at our best more consistently and for longer periods. That’s what we’ll be looking to get out of the game against Northern.”
While still harbouring some disappointment with the result of the match against NZF Development, the squad has moved on quickly and will focus on the next challenge. “We had a really good week at training and are looking forward to the last game of the season,” said Propato. “The Northern team is experienced, organized and plays an attack-minded game. Paul [Greig, Northern’s coach] is doing a great job with this team this season and it will be a tough game for us.
“We want to finish the season with a good performance. I believe in this WaiBOP squad and I’m sure the players will give 100% this weekend to get a positive result.”
