St Peter’s College, Cambridge, is the place to be on Sunday November 2 as both WaiBOP Football’s Women’s team and WaiBOP United’s Youth team play crucial fixtures in their respective leagues.
The WaiBOP Football Women’s team host Football South (1pm kick-off) in an absolute must-win game. If WaiBOP is serious about pushing for the play-offs then three points in this match against the bottom side is imperative.
The side, minus five injured and unavailable players, did well to push an excellent Auckland outfit all the way last weekend, before losing 3-2. We welcome back serial goal scorer Helen Collins, fresh from helping fire the Football Ferns to the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
In the late game, WaiBOP United’s Youth team host top of the league Nelson/Marlborough Falcons. The Falcons have won three from three to be one of only two teams sporting a 100% record, while our lads have started well too. After a couple of wins to start the season, we fell to a 3-0 defeat at Waitakere United last time out.
Many of our players were involved in the Napier U-19 Youth Championships last weekend, including captain Reid Drake who won the tournament as a guest player at Birkenhead United, so we won’t be short of a gallop despite not playing for a fortnight. We must get something from the game if we’re to keep pace with the top sides. Kick-off is at 3pm.
Please note the change of kick-off times.
