WaiBOP United are bracing themselves for another stern challenge as the team prepares for their fourth away game in five matches. This weekend we travel to Napier to take on a Hawke’s Bay United side in buoyant mood following their 6-1 thrashing of Southern United last time out.
Head Coach, Peter Smith, is fully aware of the challenge and is looking forward to the fixture. “We’ve had a tough run of results either side of Christmas and it won’t get any easier this Saturday with our trip to Napier,” said Smith during the week. “It’s a great set-up down at Bluewater Stadium and I always enjoy my visits there. Hawke’s Bay United is proving to be one of the strongest teams in the league this year, so we’ll need to be on our game to get a result at their place.”
Smith will hope for strong contributions from his new signings. “We have several new players to integrate into the squad this weekend and hopefully they’ll bring that little bit of freshness we probably need,” said Smith. “In particular, we need to find a spark in front of goal. Our performances, week in, week out, have been good but we’ve lacked a cutting edge. That’s what I’ll be looking for on Saturday.”
The match is to be played at Napier’s Bluewater Stadium on Saturday January 25. Kick-off is at 5pm.
