After a chastening experience last weekend in losing 3-0 to champions, Mainland Pride, the young WaiBOP Football women’s team must re-focus for this Sunday’s crucial fixture in Auckland against the NZ Development side.
We currently sit in third spot, one point ahead of Sunday’s opponents and two points ahead of Capital. A win is vital if we want to maintain our chances of a top three finish.
Coach Juan Propato is looking forward to the match. “We’ve had some good results and performances so far, but we’re heading into the business end of the season so it’s all about results now,” he said. “I’m proud of the way this team has developed and I think we’ll cope well with the pressure that comes with this match. The NZ team has done well this season so I think this will be a fantastic game to watch.”
The match kicks off at 4pm on Sunday at Seddon Field in Auckland. It is the second part of a double header, which also features Northern Football playing Mainland Pride at 1pm.
