The Bay SportsMed WaiBOP United Youth Team is back in familiar surroundings for this Sunday’s ASB Youth League match against Heartland Wairarapa.
The youth team played three matches at the Matamata Domain last season and head back to Hobbiton looking for a change of fortunes this weekend. After three defeats in a row it’s now or never for Paul Drake’s side as they need points on the board before heading into the business end of the season.
The results of the last two matches, in particular, have been tough to take for Drake and his coaching staff. “The boys are playing well and we’re creating chances, so it’s not all bad,” he said before heading onto the training field last night. “I wouldn’t be concerned if we were doing this during pre-season, but we’re not. We’re in the midst of a tough league campaign, so we need to turn that form into results. I’m not a huge fan of losing games of football and I don’t think too many of the players are either. I guess we’d better do something about it.”
The match kicks off at the Matamata Domain at 1pm on Sunday November 16.
