Two sides in desperate need of a win face off on Sunday when we travel to play Wanderers SC at North Harbour Stadium.
WaiBOP United Head Coach, Peter Smith, says his team needs to turn performances into points. “We need to bounce back with a result this Sunday, because if we don’t we risk losing touch with the top two or three teams,” he said during the week. “We’ve trained well so we need to carry that through to game day. We’re conscious of the chances we’ve missed in the last couple of matches and will look to put that right against Wanderers.”
While Wanderers SC is a new side to the league, Smith has some knowledge of what to expect at the weekend. “We know a little bit about Wanderers, having played them during the pre-season. I think they’ll be up for the fight and looking to bounce back from their result against Waitakere United. That should make for an entertaining match.”
Wanderers SC is a special club formed specifically to accommodate U20 players playing in the highest level of competition available in New Zealand. The playing roster comprises players who are prospective members of the NZ U20 squad that will compete in the FIFA U20 World Cup to be held in New Zealand in 2015.
The match kicks off at 2pm on Sunday. Entry is free.
