The Bay SportsMed WaiBOP United Youth Team heads north again this weekend to take on Wanderers SC in the penultimate match of their ASB Youth League campaign.
While we can’t now trouble the scorers at the pointy end of the table, a strong finish with two wins in our final two games could see us improve significantly on where we currently sit. We’re in sixth and lead a group of four teams currently sitting on 13 points. Saturday’s opponents are tucked in just behind us in seventh.
Youth team coach, Paul Drake is looking for more from his side after last weekend’s disappointing showing in the home loss to Canterbury United. “We were poor last week after a run of good performances and that was extremely frustrating,” said Drake ahead of the weekend’s match. “We just have to go out on Saturday with improved energy levels, get the passes to stick, be strong and aggressive and let the result take care of itself. I’m confident because we’ve got a good group of players, but we have to front. Last week showed us what happens when you don’t.”
The match kicks off at 2.30pm on Saturday December 20 at QBE Stadium, North Harbour, Auckland.
