The Bay SportsMed Youth Team has been held to their first draw of the season in the deep south.
An early Dylan Bull strike had our lads up and running, but we’d been pegged back to 1-1 by the break. First team squad member, Scott Hilliar, pushed us ahead after the break but Southern struck back again with fifteen minutes to go to ensure the spoils were shared.
Youth Team coach, Paul Drake, was again equally pleased with his team’s performance but frustrated not to bring home all three points. “We probably should have won this one, but Southern came back well twice, as you’d expect when they’re at home,” said Drake after the match. “It’s a long way to go, but that’s part of the challenge of playing in this league. If the lads want to step up to first team football then they have to learn to deal with this type of challenge and still get a result.”
For Southern, it was their fourth stalemate in seven ASB Youth League games this season.
