The Bay SportMed WaiBOP United Youth Team has been defeated 2-1 in by Team Wellington in their latest ASB Youth League match.
In what was a game of missed opportunities for the lads, we fell 1-0 behind during the first half, before the hosts doubled their lead on the hour.
The woodwork came to Team Wellington’s rescue twice during the second half, before Paul Clout pulled one back with ten minutes remaining.
A well deserved point looked to be on the cards when we were awarded a penalty in the dying stages, but Jarrod Young had his spot kick well saved by Team Wellington’s keeper.
WaiBOP’s Youth Team coach, Paul Drake, was again left frustrated by the result. “Clearly the lads deserved something from this match, but that’s the way it goes,” he said after the match. “For the second week in a row we’ve lost a game we should have taken something from. From a developmental point of view, these are valuable lessons for the players, I suppose. But we want to win, so this is a tough one to take.”
