WaiBOP United has beaten Hawke’s Bay United 2-0 at Crown Park, Taupo, in their latest pre-season friendly.
Head Coach, Peter Smith, was pleased with the effort put in by his squad in what was their first proper pre-season hit out. “We did okay today,” said Smith after the match. “We started a little slower than I’d have liked, but I guess that was to be expected from a side that is so new. The second half performance was good and we put into action some of the things we worked on at camp last weekend.”
Liam Higgins and Maksim Manko scored second half goals, with both of them coming from sweet Milos Nikolic set-pieces.
