Heading further up the coast we get to stop in at the gold mining town of Waihi.
Waihi is unique in the sense that visitors can stroll a few meters from town to have a look at one massive hole in the ground. The Martha Mine is literally right in the centre of town and is an impressive sight.
Marko was too tuckered out to climb the small hill to have a look at the pit, but your intrepid camera man wasn’t that easily put off.
Waihi is home to Waihi AFC.
