State Highway 29 is one of the two main roads that ferries traffic between the Waikato and the Western Bay of Plenty. It takes you up and over the Kaimai Range in a matter of minutes.
There is a small lookout on the western side of the Kaimais, near the top, that offers spectacular views back across the Waikato. On a clear day you can see for miles and miles, sometimes as far as the mountains to the south of Lake Taupo.
As we were already travelling along the Kaimais we decided to make a slight detour to the top so Marko could have a look. He was impressed.
