WaiBOP United head coach, Peter Smith, was pleased to taste victory again after a barren five match period run without a win was ended by a comfortable win over Wanderers SC. “I’d say the result today was the least we deserved after putting in another competitive performance, but this time we were able to see things through to the end,” said Smith after the game. “We knew Wanderers would have been targeting this game as a chance to gain their first win on the field, so I’m happy we did a professional job and got the win.”
Smith reserved special praise for his two-goal striker, Jack McNab. “Macca’s been a great member of our squad all season. He’s committed to what we’re trying to do here but he’s had to be patient before getting a run in the side,” said Smith. “Now he’s had a good run of games and he’s also got a few goals under his belt. I’m pleased for him that his patience has been rewarded.”
Smith is also pleased his youthful team secured a result was able to grab a win to go with the solid performances they’ve put in over recent weeks. “Wanderers are obviously a young side but I think we’d give them a pretty good run on that front,” said Smith. “We’ve got some decent talent in our region and I’m happy they’ve been able to come in, be competitive and now walk away with something to show for their efforts.”
