The Bay SportsMed WaiBOP United Youth Team has returned home from North Harbour Stadium with their largest victory of the season, and one that sees them firmly on track to achieving second spot in the Northern Conference of the ASB Youth League.
The team was dominant throughout, as the score line would suggest, even though the squad was down to the bare bones due to injuries, absences and 1st team call ups.
Jacob Robb, who had been coming off the bench in recent weeks, took his opportunity well, scoring four times and he was joined in the hat trick club by influential midfielder Jama Boss. Connor Probert and Jevon Williams also got themselves on the score sheet.
Coach Paul Drake was, not surprisingly, delighted with the result. “It’s a cliché, but I thought something like this might be coming,” he said after the match. “To do this with players missing says a lot for the squad we’ve been able to put together this season. Hopefully we can take this form through to our final two games and finish the season well.”
The youth team travels to play Auckland United next Sunday and their season finishes with a home game against Waitakere United at the Matamata Domain on Saturday March 8.
